Robert Fritz' Process for Creation
Conception
Vision
Current reality
Take action
Adjust, learn, evaluate, adjust
Building momentum
Completion
Living with your creation
I cannot see a creative process as a step-by-step progression. There are often pathways that lead us forward until a dead end is reached and that whole pathway is rejected, returning to the central pathway. The process starts with conception or the initial stimulus, which leads to an assessment process, called in this theory ‘vision’ and ‘current reality’ then progressing to ‘take action’. This beginning would work well with a situation where you are given a title and you might start a brainstorming visualisation. Once you have started there is often a time of reassessment, this is where I have added the additional arrows, returning to the beginning and rehearsing different ideas. Each time you come to the ‘adjust’ section from where you may progress or return to re-evaluate. Eventually the work is completed and you are able to try ‘living with your creation’.
