Praxis

Nelson calls the mix of practice and theory ‘praxis’. Although the research I'm doing is created through practice, this practice must be supported and related to theory. My initial research process on the theoretical background to my work had been as unspecific and desperate as the methodological research. The theory had become removed from the practice and opened up like a vast spider diagram. Although research is a developmental process this process need a focus for it’s searching. Not fining a methodological structure had caused me to loose contact with the research question. Not keeping close to the research question created a situation where the theoretical basis for my work had expanded and expanded. Using Nelson's term praxis, the mix of theory and practice, he develops this to talk of ‘doing- reflecting-reading-articulating-doing’, through this process the work, the research, starts with practice and eventually returns to practice. This might have eliminated my ever-expanding research process.
